Ubuntu "Feisty Fawn" 7.04 Herd 3 Released

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 Herd 3 has officially been released today for alpha testing. This is the third alpha release of the Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. The project is planned to be finished and ready for production machines by April 19th. Feisty Fawn includes many exciting new features, a few of which are listed below.

We are experimenting with the alpha release on a USB flash drive. 😉

A Few Key Features:

  1. Improved Installer: Ubuntu 7.04 includes a new graphical installer called Ubiquity.
  2. GNOME Control Center: New control interface for changing settings. Groups similar tasks and includes instant search.
  3. VMware: Feisty's kernel may include VMware. Windows on Linux anyone?
  4. Simple Multimedia: Easy Codec Installation. When playing media files, Ubuntu installs the necessary codecs automatically, and starts playing the desired file.
  5. New Search tool: Enabling quicker search capabilities directly from the desktop
  6. Epiphany 2.17.90: Web-Browser, similar to Firefox but more compatible with GNOME.
