How to Install Knoppix to a USB Flash Drive using Windows and YUMI. Knoppix Linux is another awesome Free and Open Source Live Linux compilation. It was created by Klaus Knopper. Aside from the basic software essentials, it also packs several unique features. Such as a screen reader for the blind. Automatic hardware detection. And last but not least, a persistence feature with encryption capabilities. This persistent option can be used to save and restore your changes on subsequent boots. It is based on Debian GNU/Linux and utilizes a lightweight LXDE desktop environment.

How to easily put Knoppix on your USB Device

  1. Download and run -> YUMI
  2. (1) Choose your USB flash drive from the dropdown. (2) Select Knoppix from the list of distros. (3) Browse to your ISO, and then click Create. USB KNOPPIX
  3. Reboot your PC and then set your system BIOS or Boot Menu to boot from the USB device. Finally, save your changes and reboot.

Upon reboot, you should be presented with a YUMI Menu containing the option to run Knoppix from your flash drive.

Follow the onscreen prompts during boot to make an encrypted persistent overlay.
