USB PCLinuxOS 2007 Live install tutorial
The following tutorial covers the process of installing PCLinuxOS 2007 to a USB flash drive via Windows. PCLinuxOS 2007 is based on Mandriva kernel 2.6.18.8 and utilizes an easy to navigate KDE desktop environment. With over 2GB of compressed data, Open Office, Firefox, Thunderbird, Frostwire, Ktorrent, Amarok, Flash, Java JRE and Beryl 3D are just a few of the many included applications you will find on the Live CD making PCLinuxOS 2007 a great candidate to install to a USB flash drive.
Notes: By installing PCLinuxOS 2007 to a USB flash drive via this tutorial, the USB bootable version will act just like the Live CD. No persistence feature by default.

Prerequisites for installing PCLinuxOS 2007 on USB:
- 1GB or larger USB flash drive
- Windows Host PC to prepare the files
- PC that can boot from a USB device
Installing PCLinuxOS 2007 to a USB flash drive:
- Download and launch fixpclos.exe, a PCLInuxOS folder is created
- Download PCLinuxOS 2007 ISO and move it to the PCLinuxOS folder
- Navigate to the PCLinuxOS folder and run fixpclos.bat
- Move the contents from the PCLOS folder to your USB device
- From the USB device, run makeboot.bat to make the drive bootable
- With the USB device inserted, restart the PC and set your system BIOS or Boot Menu to boot from the USB device
If all goes well, you should now have PCLinuxOS 2007 up and running on your USB device.
